Private placements

Need to talk to us? Let us help you with your finance structuring. Contact us.

Our Debt Capital Markets Origination team is responsible for originating and structuring US private placements for our corporate and financial institutions clients.

The private placement market is a source of long term debt often involving cross-border debt placement. For instance, dollar financing for UK corporates selling notes into US insurance companies. Corporates may then swap the finance raised into sterling or other required currency depending, from a balance sheet perspective, where the assets are situated.

Private placements offer issuers competitively-priced medium and long term debt finance that may complement a company’s existing bank facilities and diversify its funding sources.  Typical deal size is flexible and can range from £35 million to £500 million.  Although issuance is usually in the form of US dollar fixed rate notes, we have been successful in developing hedging strategies that closely match our clients’ target liability profile for both currency and rates.
