Home Farm Trust flourishes in a changing market

A changing industry

The Home Farm Trust Ltd (HFT) is a Bristol-based charity with a total income approaching £40 million a year. It has 15 service centres around the country providing a diverse range of accommodation and services for adults with learning disabilities.

The care industry is constantly evolving and HFT is a leading provider, offering new models of service support. In common with the rest of the sector, HFT has moved towards a larger number of community-based supported living houses, rather than the old-style larger residential care properties. This change has involved considerable up-front investment, with subsequent payback through fee income and surplus asset disposals.

These changes have also been accompanied by many complex changes to the funding streams from central and local government agencies.

Working together

A long-standing and close relationship has meant that we were able to support the Trust in meeting the various changes.

“HFT has been going through a period of unprecedented change, requiring large amounts of capital investment and very careful stringent cashflow management.” Says Peter Needham, Finance Director, Home Farm Trust, “Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets has been a very supportive and understanding partner throughout this time.”

We have assisted HFT with cash flow management during this period of changes and enabled HFT to:

  • Make the necessary investment to facilitate the shift from traditional residential care homes to supported living.
  • Re-negotiate and re-secure its income streams.

By working closely with us, HFT has also been able to make cost savings by using our automated banking and payments.

A thriving relationship

Our close relationship with HFT, and our support for the Trust’s work, means the local relationship team can continue to offer a responsive and flexible service as the Trust continues to adapt to meet the needs of its service users.

We have also assisted HFT nationally, by helping their service users to open and manage their own personal accounts.
